Eagle Nest

I had a chance to watch this eaglet in a nest recently. Apparently there were two chicks originally but only one survived. The eaglet is still not fledged but likely a couple of weeks away.

stretching the wings

watching for Mom/Dad

sleeping between meals

parent arriving with a meal, looked like a small rodent.

note the bloody beak and talons

mealtime

testing the wings + a small lift-off at sunset

another meal being delivered - this time a fish

calling out

flexing the wings

more

one of the parents always keeps a close eye on things, and will defend the nest from other birds + eagles that get too close

take-off

a fawn strolls by under the nest

Thanks for having a look - hope you enjoyed these!
